About Anna
fell into this work at eighteen.
I discovered Elmer Green, the pioneer of BioFeedback, whose life's purpose was proving something the medical establishment of his time did not want to hear, that people could heal their own bodies with their minds. I had the rare gift of working with him, and with the people who hadworked him, in his earlier years in the back rooms of the Menninger Clinic. That time became the breath underneath everything I built afterward, long before I ever became a physical therapist.
By the time I earned that license, thirty-five years ago- I was already thinking in terms of holistic body-mind therapy. I never really abandoned that, even when the field around me stayed conservative, even when I was told, more than once, that this was not how physical therapy was supposed to work. I kept going anyway, because I had already seen what Elmer Green spent his life trying to show the world, that the body and mind were never separate to begin with. We just built a medical system that treats them as if they are. Much of the work I did then was not evidence based and has since then become surrounded by science and research has proved its efficacy for health and healing
I have spent my career sitting with people in persistent pain, watching, again and again, what happens when the biological, the psychological, and the social finally get addressed together instead of picked apart into separate specialties. That is when actual healing occurs. Not before.
My work now moves through four pillars, sleep, movement, spiritual renewal, and food as medicine, woven together into something closer to a lifestyle than a treatment plan.
I draw on craniosacral and visceral work, Pilates-based movement, biofeedback, HeartMath coherence, and polyvagal-informed nervous system regulation, and underneath all of it, a background in theater and mime that taught me a body is legible long before it is audible. I specialize in persistent pain, hypermobility and EDS, and the neuromuscular movement patterns that so often get missed when a person is evaluated one system at a time. I'm a Reiki Master, Healing Touch and Sound Healing Practitioner. All of these skills were obtained as I looked for other options for my own personal healing and pain. It's led me to having a deep tool kit and a even greater understanding of how important it is to recognize that everybody has a different pathway for healing. Meditation may work for one and cause another to be stressed it's important to find the right tool for the right person at the right time. The only way to do this is to deeply listen and that's one of the skills that I like to bring to the treatment room.
If there is one thing I have come to believe more than any other, it is this: healing was never meant to be a solo venture. It is a village venture. That belief is why I built shared group visits into this practice, why I structured pricing in tiers so cost is not the wall it has always been, and why I have spent real energy advocating so that people with rare diseases can be seen by someone who actually understands what they are living with, not just referred out again into a system that does not.
I am currently Co-Chair of the Minnesota Holistic Medical Association, where I get to do this work at a wider scale, alongside colleagues who share the same conviction. But the center of it has never moved. It is still eighteen-year-old me, sitting in a room with Elmer Green, learning that the mind and the body were always one conversation, and that our job is simply to help people remember how to listen to it.
The Approach
This work begins with listening. Deep listening, honoring your story, and believing in your experience. I want to understand you, how this impacts your life and what we can do together to create a program that will teach you all about the intricacies and challenges that you face.
There is no protocol that fits everyone. This is one of the problems of trying to treat us in a conventional clinic. POTs, MCAS, Dysautonomia & Chronic Lyme-interact in a way that is unique to each person. Multi disciplinary care is important as well as creating a safe and nurturing environment.
The goal is never to push through. It is to understand what is actually happening in your system and give it what it needs to reorganize. When you learn how your nervous system works, you stop guessing and start building something real and lasting.
I believe in the village approach. Complex health conditions require community, collaboration and heart.
I believe that we are better together.

What Anna Brings
For Dr. Anna McConville, physical therapy was never the destination. It was the beginning of a much longer inquiry into why certain bodies are perpetually failed by the systems meant to care for them.
After 35 years at the intersection of physical therapy, biofeedback, and somatic nervous system work, Anna has arrived at something the medical world is only beginning to catch up to: that hypermobile bodies don't need to be pushed harder. They need to be understood differently.
Her clinical practice is grounded in a nervous-system-first, movement-informed model that integrates physical therapy and functional movement, biofeedback and somatic regulation, polyvagal-informed care, and breathwork as clinical foundation.
Today, Anna works with clients across the United States navigating some of the most complex and underserved conditions in modern medicine: mold toxicity, MCAS, chronic Lyme, hypermobility spectrum disorder, and other debilitating invisible illnesses. Her coaching and consulting work meets people where conventional medicine has repeatedly fallen short. Because when you've met one person with invisible illness, you've met one person with invisible illness.
She speaks internationally on self-regulation and nervous system health and convenes practitioners through the Minnesota Holistic Medical Group in service of a more integrated model of care.
Neuroplasticity principles and how nervous systems actually rewire. Trauma-informed movement where safety always comes first. Fascia and nervous system strategies for hypermobile and sensitive bodies. Cannabis education for pain management and nervous system regulation. Forty-eight years of meditation and embodiment practice. And a body that has taught her everything the textbooks left out.
This is the art and science of sustainable healing.
